Five Children Killed In Horrific Jumping Castle Tragedy At Tasmanian Primary School

Four children are still fighting for their lives in hospital after five of their classmates lost their lives in a tragic jumping castle accident at a Tasmanian school.

News.com.au confirms that Addison Stewart, 11, Zane Mellor, 12, Jye Sheehan, 12, Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones, 12, and Peter Dodt, 12, were the students who tragically passed away when a jumping castle was thrown into the air by a freak gust of wind at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport at about 10 am.

The children fell at an estimated height of 10 metres after the jumping castle they were in, were picked up by a powerful gust of wind.

9 News confirms that The grade five and six students were celebrating their final day of term at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport when the tragic incident occurred.

Tasmania Police Commissioner Darren Hine said that an investigation is underway to discover what caused the horrific accident.

“On a day when these children were meant to be celebrating their last day of primary school, instead, we are all mourning their loss,” Mr. Hine said in a statement.

“Our hearts are breaking for the families and the loved ones, schoolmates, teachers, of these young people who were taken too soon.

“Our thoughts are also with those emergency services personnel who attended to try and save these people’s lives.”
