5 Food Frauds To Watch Out For

There are specific foods that we believe to be healthy and fat-free. When we think of controlling our diet and maintaining the amount of calories that we take in, we tend to consume these foods. However, there are some foods that seem to be perceived as healthy but they are actually sneaky little things that are not so healthy after all. Here are some foods that typically fall in this group.

Caesar Salad – A small bowl of Caesar Salad can have as much as 400 calories with about 30 grams of fat. This is mainly due to the dressing that is used in the salad, which we obviously prefer to add loads of.

Smoothies – Don’t let the fresh fruit angle fool you. Smoothies contain a lot of sugar and most of them have about 80 to 100 grams of sugar taking the calorie count to about 350. In addition to that, these smoothies use fruit concentrates and you really do not get any of the benefits of the fresh fruit in any case.

Energy Bars – Many people who diet tend to carry energy bars with them for the times that they have hunger pangs. Many of these bars are basically enhanced candy bars and just pack in a lot of sugar to give the pep.

Multigrain – Many loaves of bread and bakery products claim to be made from multi-grains like oats, whole wheat, barley, and more to give it a healthier feel. However, the back label will tell you the high proportion of refined flour that is used, reducing the goodness to almost nothing.

Ice Tea – The hype about iced tea and the antioxidants in the tea may be right. But the amount of sugar that one consumes when one drinks iced tea is far more damaging than the goodness of the few antioxidants that it may contain.
