The stars of the newest Kapuso drama series “To Have and To Hold” enchanted the audience during the “Pinoy Abroad Fun Connect” by GMA Pinoy TV last Wednesday.
Present in this fan meeting were multi-talented Kapuso stars Carla Abellana, Rocco Nacino, and Max Collins who will banner the much-awaited soap opera. Selected Kapuso fans abroad joined the exclusive Zoom meeting.
The FunCon kicked off with the exciting game “Never Have I Ever” wherein the trio were asked if they have experienced interesting situations like sending a drunk text, being late on a shoot, or dancing on TikTok.
Interestingly, all of them admitted that they had sent a drunk text in the past.
“Nangyari na pero nu’ng time na may pinagdadaananan ako. Sa mga kaibigan (ko), naglalabas lang (ako) ng sama ng loob,” Rocco said.
“Yes, although hindi ko po gawain ‘yan pero nagawa ko na rin kahit papaano lalo na when I was much younger,” Carla revealed.
“Hindi ko na po maalala kung ano mga naitext ko at ayoko na rin alalahanin,” Max said.
Asked about whether they’ve been late to tapings, Carla said that she has never done that because she is time conscious and she values everybody’s time. On the other hand, both leading ladies teasingly said that Rocco made them wait on the set.
Rocco quickly cracked a joke, “Alam mo noong walang pandemic, hindi ako nale-late talaga. Laging on call ang helicopter ko pagpunta ng location. If not, before kami mag-taping, doon kami tumitira sa location.” Afterwards, Rocco admitted that he is sometimes late, “Mabagal ako kumilos. Something I have to fix.”
Who went to the wrong taping location? Max did!
Instead of going to the Kapuso taping set, Max said she accidentally went on another network’s taping set. “I think more than once na nangyari sa akin. Magkalapit lang kasi ‘yung taping areas. Ang ending, I ended up on the other side. Hindi naman ako bumaba ng kotse, buti na lang madilim ‘yung tint ng kotse. Hindi ako napansin,” she reminisced.
“To Have and To Hold” is a story about marriage and its challenges. It revolves around the lives and relationships of the main characters such as Erica Gatchalian played by Carla, Gavin Ramirez which is portrayed by Rocco, and Max as Dominique Ramirez. It is a story of a married couple who grew apart because of betrayal.
Asked about the biggest challenges they’d encountered on the series. Rocco answered, “Diving into the character lalo na naka-lock-in kami. Kahit pagbalik sa room namin, I was getting in and out the character kasi we became the characters. Lalo na noong patapos na ang taping I was really putting myself out to be Rocco again.”
Carla admitted that it is hard to separate her role from herself. “Parang in real life, ang hirap maging Erika. Mahirap tanggapin ang fate ni Erika lahat ng mga nangyari sa kanya. Very challenging na the real me tried to fight for the character. I would constantly remind myself that it’s the character that you were playing, not you,” Carla explained.
Meanwhile, Max tried to deviate from her character but also admitted that it affected her in some ways. “Pinaka-challenging was ‘yung emotion going through the experiences actually that Dominique had to go through. Kasi medyo rollercoaster ride ‘yung emotion and ‘yung experiences and actually allowing myself to be affected by everything that was happening, and also because may pagka-daring ‘yung role for me. I’ve never done anything like this before,” said Max.
On the game “Hold That Sound,” the stars were partnered with selected Kapuso fans who guessed several words associated with weddings. The winners won GMA virtual tour tickets and 30-day free vouchers from Mavshack.
Before the FunCon ended, special video messages of the cast members were played including Rafael Rosell as Tony Gatchalian (Erica’s husband), Valeen Montenegro as Sofia Carlos (Gavin’s business partner), and Ina Feleo as Quel Asuncion (Dom’s cousin and confidant). Joining the powerful cast of the highly-anticipated series are Bing Pimentel, Athenah Madrid, Luis Hontiveros, Gilleth Sandico and Roi Vinzon.
Also starring in the series for a special role is Dion Ignacio who plays Ian, a hardworking businessman who would fall for Erica.
“Kapuso abroad, ini-invite namin kayo na manood ng To Have and To Hold. We put so much heart. Puso ang talagang ibinuhos namin dito. Marami sa inyo ang naiintriga na at nanghuhula nang takbo ng kuwento. Kailangan ninyo panoorin para malaman ninyo talaga ang mangyayari,” Carla teased.
“We’ll talk about the struggles of marriage, ang self-esteem ng mga lalaki. Kaya sa mga boys diyan at husband, importante na mapanood ninyo ito! We’re very excited for all of you para you start watching this wonderful series,” said Rocco.
“Despite the pandemic, nakagawa kami ng magandang-magandang show para sa inyong lahat at sana ma-enjoy ninyo. I really hope we will touch your lives in some ways,” Max invited Kapuso around the world.
