Police Just Sent A Warning To People Planning An Anti-Lockdown Protest In Sydney This Weekend

There’s been news that protesters are planning to demonstrate against COVID-19 restrictions in Sydney this weekend – but the police force has a strong message for the protesters: stay home!

Nine news confirms that the NSW Police is preparing for a highly visible and mobile police operation to prevent protests and mass gatherings across the state.

State Police Minister David Elliott gave a stern warning to anyone thinking of protesting this weekend: Do NOT enter Sydney and just stay at home.

Mr. Elliott said as per Nine News, “there is no doubt that these protests are a risk to public health – for the community, for police as well as for the individual health of the protesters themselves.

“We’ve seen past protesters end up contracting COVID-19, so anyone who is still considering protesting needs to take a good hard look at themselves.”

Nine news further confirms that Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon, Metropolitan Field Operations, said the operation would be similar to previous operations in the past, which had been quite successful when it comes to preventing and disrupting protests.

“We are continuing to monitor online commentary ahead of tomorrow and have put in place an extremely mobile police operation with significant resources, to respond to whatever situation we are faced with,” he quipped.
