The emotional song was co-produced and co-written with Greg Kurstin, and comes alongside a Xavier Dolan who dpreviously helmed the video for her 2015 single Hello.
“There ain’t no room for our things to change/When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways,” according to the lyrics of her song. “You can’t deny how hard I’ve tried/I changed who I was to put you both first.” The chorus also delivers a powerful message: “Go easy on me… I was still a child… didn’t get the chance to feel the world around me… had no time to choose… what I chose to do… so go easy on me.” It’s heavy stuff, rendered in a way only someone with Adele’s powerful vocal range can handle.
