According to Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for COVID-19 and she is currently experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms as a result.
Last Sunday, the world’s oldest and longest-reigning living monarch will be on “light” duties at Windsor Castle over the coming week according to the palace.
The palace said in a statement, “she will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”
The Queen is believed to have received three jabs of the Coronavirus vaccine as per 9 News.
ABC also confirms that both her eldest son, Prince Charles, and daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have recently contracted COVID-19.
It’s mandatory for people in the UK who test positive for COVID-19 to self-isolate for at least five days. That said, the British government says it plans to lift that requirement for England in the coming week.
The Queen is scheduled to attend a number of in-person public engagements in the coming weeks, including audiences with politicians and diplomats, a diplomatic reception at Windsor on March 2, and the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on March 14.
