Cheers Productions is set to bring the cult-favourite musical We Are The Tigers to Sydney audiences this October, with a dynamic cast ready to deliver an explosive mix of infectious pop-rock music, high-energy choreography and a gripping murder mystery. The production will take to the stage at the Hayes Theatre from 9 October 2026, with tickets now available.
Set during the annual sleepover of the Giles Corey High School cheerleading squad, We Are The Tigers begins as a story about teenage rivalries and social pressures before taking a dark turn when a squad member is found dead. As suspicion grows and friendships are tested, the remaining cheerleaders must race to uncover the truth before another victim falls.
Leading the cast is Brianna Bishop as the determined team captain Riley, alongside Olivia Vásquez as the effortlessly popular Cairo. Joining them are newcomer AJ Betts as Kate and Chelsea Dawson as Chess, portraying lifelong friends navigating ambition and change.
The ensemble also features Anabel Jamieson as the devoted Annleigh, while Artemis Alfonzetti takes on the role of the rebellious Farrah. Completing the cheer squad are Jenny Guigayoma as enthusiastic freshman Mattie, alongside newcomers Caitlin McCallig as Reese and Millie Seeto as Eva. Recent WAAPA graduate Pippin Carroll joins the production as Clarke, while Carla Venezia serves as Swing and Dance Captain, with Jake Tyler appearing as Cover.
The production also marks the directorial debut of Chiara Assetta, who has assembled a cast of emerging talent and experienced musical theatre performers. Supporting the creative team are Music Director Kim Gilbert and Assistant Director and Choreographer Zoe Ioannou, forming a female-led creative team behind the production.
Speaking about the cast, Assetta praised the performers’ chemistry, vocal ability and athleticism, describing them as fearless artists capable of capturing both the humour and emotional depth of the musical while embracing its many unexpected twists.
Written by Preston Max Allen, We Are The Tigers has built an international following thanks to its energetic pop-rock score, clever humour and suspenseful storytelling. Blending the excitement of competitive cheerleading with the intrigue of a murder mystery, the musical promises an entertaining theatrical experience where every performance raises the stakes and every character has a secret.
