NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has just announced that she is resigning as the NSW Premier after ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption) revealed she was reportedly being investigated.
Gladys Berejiklian said her resignation “could not happen at a worse time”. She described her decision as “extremely difficult” and that she was left with no choice.
“Standing aside is not an option for me as the premier of NSW,” Ms. Berejiklian announced in a press conference yesterday as per Nine news.
“Resigning at this time is against every instinct of my being.
“I love my job and serving the community but I have been given no option.”
Ms. Berejiklian also thanked the people of NSW for their support during her time as the NSW Premier.
“Serving you has been the greatest privilege of my life,” Ms. Berejiklian said during the press conference.”Please know that every day I gave it my all and worked as hard as I could to create a better future for the state and its people.”
She will also resign from NSW Parliament and she urged NSW to support whoever will be chosen as her successor.
