Social media influencer Bretman Rock has just become the first-ever gay man to grace the cover of Playboy Magazine. For those who don’t know Rock, he has more than 17 million Instagram followers, has starred in his own MTV reality show, and has even launched a beauty line.

In Playboy’s October digital cover, Rock wore the signature Playboy bunny outfit complete with heels, black tights, a bow-tie, and lingerie with matching bunny ears.

Playboy shared a quote from Rock’s Twitter post emphasizing the groundbreaking nature of his cover shoot. “For Playboy to have a male on the cover is a huge deal for the LGBT community, for my brown people community and it’s all so surreal…A total ‘is this even f****** happening right now?’ type of vibe. And I’m so pretty.”

Last year, beauty influencer Victoria Volkova became the first transgender woman to grace the cover of Playboy Mexico. Other trans women also appeared in various editions of the publication such as Roberta Close, Caroline “Tula” Cossey, Giuliana Farfalla, and Geena Rocero.

Anthony Allen Ramos, LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD’s head of talent called Playboy’s move a ”powerful step forward in the ongoing movement towards greater diversity and inclusion in fashion and modeling.”
