Tim Tszyu has destroyed Takeshi Inoue by unanimous decision in a decisive contest held at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, stretching his impeccable professional record to 20-0. Although Tszyu was dominant in this boxing match, it was his inability to land a knockout punch on his opponent that earned Inoue respect from boxing fans around the world for still being able to stand at the end of the 12th round. According to ABC, This win seems like the perfect lead-up for Tim to get a shot at Brian Castaño’s world super welterweight title sometime next year.

Inoue proved to be an incredibly tough opponent, absorbing a great deal of punishment throughout the fight and he was eventually sent to the canvas, for the first time in his career in the final round.

News.com.au confirms that The judges gave the fight to Tszyu via a unanimous decision (120-107, 119-108, 120-107). ABC also confirms that all three judges gave Tszyu the result by all 12 rounds on two scorecards and 11 on the other, as he retained his WBO Global and the Asia Pacific super welterweight titles as well as his number one ranking.

Tszyu said after the fight that he was surprised at Inoue’s toughness but believed he had done enough to finish the fight.

“Wow, what a warrior,” Tszyu said of Inoue.

“He feels like a brick wall, I don’t think a heavyweight could drop him.”

“Hats off to him, he’s a warrior. I heard him squeal, his face is battered, and look at his body. He’s so tough.”

Tszyu now has his eyes set on his first world title fight against potentially Brian Castano, who holds the WBO’s super welterweight belt.

“Honestly I think that was the best thing that could have happened, getting a good 12 rounds in before I hit the big time,” Tszyu replied when asked if he was coming for Castano.

“I’ll be back in the gym, I gotta be more prepared than that because I need to take these guys out and I need to keep taking them all out one by one. The grind continues.

“You boys finish your little honeymoons and get back in the gym and start training. I’m coming for all of you. Every single one of you.”
