NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet Has Raised Changes To Mobile Speed Cameras

Former transport and roads minister Andrew Constance announced back in November last year that mobile speed camera warning signs would be removed under the state’s road safety laws as a reminder to drivers that they can be caught anywhere at any time.

However, 9 News confirms that this decision was overturned in August this year after more than a whopping $21 million in revenue was collected from all the fines.

The Joint Standing Committee had to review the current situation on Road Safety, and eventually, it was announced more than 1000 new warning signs will be erected again.

NSW Premier was concerned about the speed camera traps after the speed warning signs were removed last year then eventually reinstated back in August.

Since then, the Premier has decided to raise changes to mobile speed cameras in New South Wales, stating that they should not actually be meant as “revenue raisers”.

“It’s all about road safety and reducing the road toll,” he said as per 9 News. “It’s all got to be focused on keeping people safe on our roads.”
