NSW Records 20,794 New COVID-19 Cases, And Four Deaths As Hospitalisations Increase

NSW has recorded 20,794 cases of COVID-19 and four deaths as hospital admissions rose to 1,204, which is higher from 1,066 in the previous reporting period.

Concern is steadily rising for the New South Wales hospital system due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and the sudden jump in COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 1204 being treated.

There are currently 95 people in intensive care, up 12 from yesterday and Four people have died with the virus overnight, two men and two women. According to 9 News, two people were aged in their 70s, one in their 80s, and one in their 90s.

Three people had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and one person had received three doses.

According to 9 News, one was a woman in her 90s from Western Sydney who died at Bolton Clarke Cabrini Aged Care Facility in Westmead. It is the first death linked to an outbreak at this facility.

NSW Health reminded NSW residents that they were at risk of developing COVID-19 for up to 14 days after exposure to the virus.

While most people will test positive within the first week after exposure to COVID-19, around a quarter of people exposed to COVID-19 will apparently develop their infection in the following seven days.

On that note, people are still told to avoid getting tested unless they develop symptoms as the wait times for testing clinics have ballooned in NSW.
