Introducing The Most Instagrammable Sustainable Fashion Brands

With fast fashion currently wreaking havoc on the environment and with many brands looking to make the switch to more sustainable values, experts at OnBuy.com wanted to celebrate the most Instagrammed sustainable fashion brands.

After analysing the sustainability rating of the most popular eco-friendly brands on Good on You*, OnBuy.com collated and ranked the number of Instagram hashtags each brand has and can now reveal all!

Here are the most Instagrammable sustainable fashion brands:

Adidas is the most Instagrammable sustainable fashion brand

In the first place as the most Instagrammable sustainable fashion brand is Adidas, with a staggering 72.8 million hashtags. The sportswear brand has a Good on You rating of four out of five, with the sustainability rating website stating that:

“It uses a medium proportion of eco-friendly materials, including recycled materials” and “It has set an absolute target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from its own operations.”

Following behind in second place is outdoor clothing brand Patagonia with 7.2 million hashtags. Not only does the brand follow in the steps of its successor by using eco-friendly materials, but they are also part of a ‘movement for change.’ This sees them support the fight against oil drilling and self-imposing a 1% Earth tax, which:

“Provides support to environmental non-profits working to defend our air, land and water around the globe.”

Coming closely behind in third place is the infamous denim brand Levi’s, with 6.5 million hashtags to its name. The popular jean company is said to be implementing water reduction initiatives throughout its supply chain according to Good on You, who scored them three out of five on the sustainability ratings.

Stella McCartney comes in the top five

In fourth place is another top designer brand, Stella McCartney with 1.4 million hashtags – Paul’s daughter scored four out of five on Good on You. The brand is also a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition – a non-profit alliance of retailers, brands and suppliers that aims to create:

“An apparel, footwear and home textiles industry that produces no unnecessary environmental harm and has a positive impact on people and communities.”

Despite Sunday Times Style claiming it to be ‘one of the most sustainable – and wearable – clothing labels in the country’, London brand Mother of Pearl claims fifth place, with 521,000 hashtags. The luxury brand is said to celebrate individuality, authenticity, and sustainability, so it is no surprise it is so popular online.
