Covid Watch Top Story

NSW Records A Whopping 12,226 COVID-19 Cases Today

NSW has just broken another daily record with 12,226 new cases of Covid-19 – this is the highest ever number of daily COVID-19 cases recorded in any Australian jurisdiction.

97,201 COVID swabs were taken in the past 24 hours across NSW, compared to almost 158,000 the day before.

The number of patients in the hospital increased to 121 overnight from 625, with 63 of those patients in intensive care.

According to ABC, an aged care resident on the Central Coast died — she was reportedly unvaccinated and had underlying health conditions.

ABC further confirms that NSW Health announced it would start prioritising “clinically urgent” cases at testing clinics and told holiday-makers not to turn up for testing to lessen the pressure on clinics and staff.

The National cabinet is reportedly meeting today, as COVID cases continue to increase in record levels.
