“False Positive” lead star Glaiza de Castro admits she was intimidated with Xian Lim

From heavy drama to comedy, Kapuso actress Glaiza de Castro proved that she is a very talented and versatile actress that she play any role.

“Kung sanay kayo na makita si Glaiza na mataray, palaban, and fierce, dito supportive and submissive house wife [ako] ni Edward dela Guardia (Xian Lim),” she told Stronger Together: The GMA Pinoy TV Podcast.

In her newest romcom series, “False Positive,” Glaiza will portray the character of Yannie, a loving pregnant housewife who is neglected by her husband. Then, things change when her wish to switch roles with her husband comes true.

“Matutunan ninyo ‘yung journey ng mag-asawa, ‘yung responsibilities na kanilang panghahawakan at kung nag-switch ‘yung responsibilities nila, paano nila itatawid ‘yun,” Glaiza said.

“Komportable ako sa drama. Pero I always want to try comedy. Isa ‘yun sa mga hinihiling ko talaga after ng “Nagbabagang Luha.” Mas nag-gain ako ng respeto sa mga aktor na nagco-comedy. Dito kailangan witty ka, dapat mabilis ka. [May] timing,” Glaiza added.

Did you know that she thought Xian was a snobbish? Later on, she finds him friendly and they became #StrongerTogether on-set because they shared the same passion for music.

“Medyo na-intimidate talaga ako sa kanya kasi feeling ko nga suplado siyang tao na parang may sarili siyang mundo. Pero surprisingly, hindi pala. Nakakatuwa siya kasi sobrang energetic. Sa totoo lang kapag nagta-trabaho, lock-in taping, hindi siya nauubusan ng energy. Nahahatak niya ako.”

Aside from acting, she finds time to sing and record music. She also announced that she plans to release a new single soon. “Malapit na malapit na yan. Ito ay nasulat ko noong pandemic.”

Now that she is living a married life, does her husband, David Rainey, tell her to lielow in showbiz?

“Wala! Kasi kung may ganun, baka hindi kami mag-asawa ngayon! He is very supportive,” she answered.

“Naramdaman ko na proud siya at excited sa ginagawa ko. Sinasabi niya sa akin na hindi siya makapaniwala na kaya kong gawin ‘yun na I’m capable of doing things like that, ‘yung pag-arte,” Glaiza added.

Recently, the newlywed couple flew off to London and Ireland to visit David’s family. Glaiza said that she always looks forward to bumping into Filipinos abroad whenever she’s on a trip.

“I think it’s always nice na makakita ng kapwa mo Pinoy sa ibang bansa kasi ramdam mo na hindi ka lost. Lagi akong nare-remind of home. Hindi ako nag-iisa. I think it’s important na may Filipino community kung saan ako nagpupunta especially sa London, may support group ako.”

With international trips catching up at last and some countries are easing travel restrictions, Glaizasaid she is anticipating to do international shows to meet her Kapuso fans abroad soon.

“Gusto ko kayo makita in person. I can’t wait to see you, to interact with you. Iba pa rin ‘yung makikita mo smiles nila at maririnig mo boses nila in person. I hope na dito sa “False Positive” ay masuportahan ninyo kami,” she added.

Joining the major ensemble of talented actors of False Positive are Nova Villa, Tonton Gutierrez, Rochelle Pangilinan, Dominic Roco, Herlene Budol, Buboy Villar, Luis Hontiveros, and Yvette Sanchez.
