Love is a tale as old as time, and stories about this powerful emotion are countless. This February, GMA Pinoy TV, the home of Global Pinoys, gives viewers Filipino romantic movies that best capture its everlasting wonder in Kapuso Month: Middle-Age Love Stories.
Be it tender love stories, laugh-a-minute romantic mishaps, or passions rekindled, this month’s movies are sure to set hearts aflutter – and inspire viewers to celebrate the month of hearts!
Coming on February 4 is the romantic laugh-fest “Feelennial.” Seasoned comedians AiAi de las Alas and Bayani Agbayani are an unlikely romantic pair navigating love in the age of social media and dating apps.
The rush of first love knows no age in “1st Ko Si 3rd.” The much-praised Cinemalaya movie is the first leading role for Nova Villa in a career that spans decades, and pairs her with eternal TV partner Freddie Webb. Nova plays Corazon, a recently retired government employee in a monotonous marriage with Alejandro (Dante Rivero). As she contemplates spending the rest of her years with Alejandro, former flame Third (Freddie) returns to her life. Watch it on February 11.
Viewers with a taste for unconventional love stories should tune in on February 18 for “Hintayan ng Langit.” The romance drama, based on a Virgin Labfest play, stars screen legends Gina Pareño and Eddie Garcia. Gina plays Lisang, who’s been stuck in Purgatory for two years. When she finally gets her chance to go to heaven, her ex-boyfriend Manolo (Eddie) appears. With nothing else to do but wait, they are forced to confront what went wrong in their relationship.
The complexities of love with current and past partners are explored in “Kung Paano Hinihintay Ang Dapithapon.” The drama stars Perla Bautista and the late Menggie Cobarrubias, playing the couple Tere and Celso. They bicker quite often and just about tolerate each other but remain steadfast partners. On the night they celebrate their 27th anniversary with their blended family, Tere’s estranged husband Bene (Dante Rivero) requests to see her. Tere agrees and the decision opens the door to the past. Watch it on February 25.
Besides movies, a fan favorite returns to GMA Pinoy in February as well. Titanic Action Star Senator Bong Revilla and multi-talented actress Beauty Gonzalez return for more thrilling adventures in the second season of the action-comedy series “Walang Matigas Na Pulis Sa Matinik Na Misis.” Premieres in North America February 4; Asia-Pacific February 5; MENA territories February 6.
